WASHINGTON, January 24, 2011 – Communities @WashingtonTimes will be joining the Political pundits at Washington Times for a Live Chat of the President’s 2012 State of the Union Address (SOTU). The State of the Union Address is an annual address wherein the President addresses the United States Congress. During this speech, the President outlines his priorities and legislative agenda, that requires the approval of Congress.
Held in the historic House of Representative’s chamber of the United States Capital, the report was originally provided to congress as a written report. Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President (1913-1921) was the first president to deliver the State of the Union as a speech, before the Congress.
The State of the Union Address has since grown from a message delivered to the Congress from the President, to an opportunity for the President to deliver his agenda to the People of the United States, with his respective supporters offering standing ovations at key points in the speech.
Moderated by Washington Times Deputy Editorial Page Editor and political pundit David Mastio, Communities writers Jim Picht, Gayle Falkenthal, Terry Ponick, Rich Stowell and Danny de Gracia will help keep the conversation lively while providing their expert commentary during the debate.
